Title: Lorekeeper's Library
Post by: Darkgenius on August 15, 2013, 04:56:54 pm
I think is due we create a place to research the Loregy of The World of Perisno.
First off, the definition of Loremaster:
A wise person with knowledge of history, genealogy and ancient poetry and possibly magic as well.
Using our knowledge of History, of our own world, we bring the best elements of it, and create one anew.
For that effort, I'm proposing that everyone that is at least slightly interested in marking Perisno, to create a Lore, and deposit it here, for the greater good of our Loregy. selected lore archetypes will be added to the collective, our hundred scrolls of knowledge, that we must hoard, in order to add some "meaning" to the world, because no matter how the gold shines, or how big that one's armor is, it has to mean, it has to have a meaning, why is that gold so bright? why is that armor so big? is there many battles? what kind of metal they're using that they must protect every piece of one's body?
Why is gold so shiny? is there a large depository of Gold veins? who's fighting for that Gold Mine?
whose that army approuching from the winterlands? I thought that land was a icy wasteland and now lagions march forth?
Why are all of them wearing heavy plates? could that Winterlands be a large deposit of minerals? why are they comming to the Mainland? are they a conquering army? are they a saviour army? or are they our doom? why all the variety in colours? are they fighting a civil war? they look very well disciplined, and I have noted many of their numbers can go anywhere as they please, are they free-man? their banners look detailed, some have skulls and some have Golden Fleur de Lis, is there a huge variety of religions in the Winterlands? maybe that's why they might be fighting Civil Wars?
Perisno has many forests, and between these forests exists villages of Redwood Nation, Noldor? Elves? Redwood is legendary, mighty but time is always changing fast, and many factions are comming forth geared for battle.
I never seem animals before and all the sudden we must be careful not have Wild Hound ambushing us almost anywhere in the Mainland, is that an Animal Plague?
Hakkon, once a mighty empire, purged it's home of all impurity in the Empire, now they've come to this land, seeking to conquer it, but they've found naught but challenges.
In the mighty desert, lies the shadowy lands of Perisno, the powerful clans of the Drahara are united, and ready march in a conquering tide in all Perisno, claiming all in their paths.
The Rebel Kingdom of Tolrania, now free of the Tyrannical Hakkon is once again ruled by a vile ruler, will the Rebel-born Faction once again honor their traditions and overthrow the Tyrant?
And yet, there's a storm, Dragon Banners rise in the North, these are the mysterious sky-people, the Reich Des Drache, Dragonborns, they ruled a very distant land, but no one seems to know what happened, theories has it they overthrew their Dragon Overlords, and are seeking new lands to conquer, others foretells they have a looking lands to settle and once again raise their fabled army and claim their place as righteous rulers of all Perisno.
Perisno is ripe for the taking, and several crime rings are on the rise, taking every opportunity, Clans of the Volheere Rise in the Winterlands, the elusive Desert Rats that once had marched the entire mainland are rising again, the Hill Vultures that always been a plague in Perisno are getting organized, the Savages, the tribes of elves and man are rampaging and raiding, yet, a legend tells of the reincarnation of the Evil Emperor, a criminal lord that corrupted perisno and demanded the Crown, he was unstoppable, with a black mantle of power, and the legendary artifact called the Black Blade; Slayer of the Living, Master of Shadows, containing the power of darkness in it's dark metal.
And yet, Guilds rise in the chaos, seeking to make perisno more liveable in the conflicts, peacekeeper orders mantain the peace by hunting and cleasing evil, lawless bounty hunter groups are on the rise, taking whatever they want whenever they can, and biggest of them all is the Arkenlight Order from the Winterlands, they are master contraptioners that use all kinds of weapons and armor to further their goals and profit, they are known to be fearless warriors, and have proved their superiority in all perisno as a mighty order of mercenaries, word is they are recruiting the best captains of perisno for a march, will they try to conquer Perisno? or are they just a Army-for-hire?
The World of Perisno awaits.
An short example of loregy, I see a big mental work rising, and I expect it, let's use our imaginations and let it flow.
Now loremasters and lorekeepers, let's do what we do best.

OVERVIEW OF PERISNO (WALL OF TEXT :P)
Reich des Drache Lore Tolrania Faction Lore: Maccavia Lore by Darkgenius Drahara Lore
The Draharans have always been in Perisno, and are a loosely united confederation of desert tribes. They have never really cared about the western world, which they call the "Ghareeb." They are a reclusive nation, staying in their deserts, never daring to venture more than a few miles into the lands without desert. They are a hardy people, able to live in that harshest environments. Most tribes are nomadic, but some of the bigger tribes have settled in cities near water and resources. The Draharans are also religious, believing in spirits and gods. Throughout the Draharan desert, ancient shrines and majestic temples can be found dedicated to their gods. Drahara is a term used for an entire ethnic group of people, and many tribesmen find it offensive to be called Draharan instead of their respective clan or tribe name. It has been like that for hundreds of years, but around the year 354, everything changed. A man with no name walked into the capital city of the largest Draharan tribe, and proclaimed himself a man sent by the gods. He could work wonders and perform miracles, and soon many people followed him. He said that he dreamed of a day when the Draharans ruled Perisno, when all the unworthy Ghareebians of the West bowed under their rule. He was so mesmerizing and his voice so powerful that everyone who heard him believed him and pledged their allegiance to him. Soon, after five years, all the Draharan tribes had united under this man, and their armies were ready to march. First, he immediately used the military to wipe out every single bandit party in the desert that they could find. Every desert rat and vulture that robbed other men were found and executed under this man's order. Drahara soon became free of such men, but it is rumored they are still hiding in reclusive corners, waiting for revenge. This unnamed man continued to assert his dominance, and trained an elite guard of camel riders for himself. He had the tribe of elephant riders pledge their allegiance to him as well, and also the infamous Desert Assassins. By the year 365, the Draharans were ready to march for war. Draharan government, military, and claimant: Under their new mysterious ruler, Drahara became a confederation. Every lord had his personal army but all fought for one cause: the conquest of the west. However, there were a few people that doubted this mysterious new man, and openly proclaimed it. The strongest man against this new ruler was named Baibars. He voiced his protests against this new ruler of Drahara, saying that he had no right to rule. He was cast out and shunned, but remains alive, waiting for someone to help him. He now goes from kingdom to kingdom, trying to find support. The Draharan military is simple: they have archers, spearmen, and cavalry. They do not wear very heavy armor, however, because of the hotness of the desert. The Draharans have a simple military all around, but many of their lords have household troops that belong to their own clan. It is the year 365, and things are not looking well for the west. Will you stand with Drahara and conquer the other factions, or will you oppose them and crush them instead? Or will you help their claimant? The choice is up to you.
Hakkon Lore
The people of Hakkon originated from an island far from Perisno. In the year -542BE (Before the Enlightment), tribesmen and sailors rowed from their mainland to the island of Hakkon. From then, the road began to pave for a mighty empire, the Hakkon Empire. In a few centuries, the Hakkons rose from a small island nation to a superpower in their world. They revolutionized sailing technology, and rumor had it that their navy was so great and had such survivability that they could sail the entire world and not one would sink. Hakkon quickly dominated other small island tribes around them, and set about colonizing the mainland. Many of their efforts failed, and around the year 315, Hakkon was on the verge of collapse. Pestilence, corruption and war had taken its toll on the once great Hakkon Empire. In the year 322, King Comrey II was crowned King of Hakkon. He was a lazy, indolent man who cared for nothing but food, wine, and women. He was nothing like his father, King Comrey I, who was a great man and helped rebuild much of Hakkon after its economic downfall. King Comrey II held lavish feasts in his palace almost daily, and the only times he didn't hold them were the times he was too drunk to do anything. Throughout the kingdom, the people murmured and voiced their disgust of their new creature of a King. In the year 323, six months after Comrey II was crowned, the people had had enough. Admiral Themistocles, a powerful and wealthy man arranged the escape of four ships that would sail into a new land to settle. He himself was a seasoned veteran of many battles, but chose to stay even though his people begged him to go. He vowed he would continue helping the people against their new tyrant. In the year 323, the men were ready to sail, and all of them left with high hopes of a new life in a new world. By the year 329, King Comrey II was still on the throne, but he was so fat and lazy by now that his ministers had taken over ruling the kingdom for him until a more suitable heir could be selected. The Hakkon Empire continued to crumble, and many of their nobles were anxious to leave. A large fleet of Hakkon nobles and soldiers left the island and went in the footsteps of the Tolranians in search of a new world. By the year 330, they had arrived in Perisno and immediately began colonizing it. They called themselves the Hakkon Empire, and called the one they had come from the Old Hakkon Empire. For many years, the Hakkon Empire grew in size and prosperity. They frequently fought with the Tolranians, and even though they lost many battles, they were powerful and could rebuild quickly and efficiently. Hakkon Government: The Hakkon Empire is a monarchy, and their current king is King Hakkon II "The Great," named after the Hakkons of old. They are an efficient government, having access to many trade routes and natural resources. Their military is solid all around, and fields a variety of units. They have heavy cavalry, heavy infantry, spearmen, and crossbowmen. In the year 350, trouble arouse after King Hakkon IV's death. He left no successor, and now Hakkon nobles were fighting each other in a heated civil war. The rest of the world only watched the conflict, no one making a move to interfere. The two sides were the Hammeriron family and the Hakkon family. Ultimately, the Hakkon family won after many bloody battles, and King Hakkon III was crowned. However, the Hammeriron leader, Mjolnir, is still alive and looking for revenge. Trouble once again came to the Hakkons in the year 355. New raiders, called the Volheere raiders, migrated to Perisno near Hakkon lands and began to loot and kill anyone in their way. By the year 362, they became a very large threat. The Hakkons still have not managed to deal with them yet. In the year 363, a mysterious group called the Reich des Drache sailed to Perisno. Now, it is up to you to decide the fate of the Hakkon Empire. Will you help them become strong, or will you cause them to fall? Will you help the Hammeriron family to become the true Hakkon rulers? The choice is up to you.
Title: IDEA
Post by: Something unusual on August 15, 2013, 05:15:52 pm
I also present to you my own idea .... The Imperial Klyrintin Empire. These guys could be a minor faction and an invasion event later on (what I mean by invasion event is many lords of that faction (10+) come and invade Perisno. This has been done in Native Expansion with the Dark Knights and I think in Sword of Damocles for Mount and Blade) They could be put in a later version if you like the idea.
The Klyrintin Empire The Klyrintin Empire is an empire from an island near Perisno. They are sailors, explorers, astronomers, scientists, and philosophers. They are fascinated with Perisno, thinking that there was no way that this much blood could be shed for one piece of land. Their ruler, Emperor Zhenghe, decided to put an end to all of this foolishness. He is plotting a full-scale invasion of Perisno and his men will come as "peacemakers." He believes that his Imperial army will easily crush the Perisnoans and all of their inhabitants. His invasion is almost ready, and he will invade in the middle of the year 365 (so around 180 days for the player in game). He first sends in scouting forces and spies - you could implement this by putting "Klyrintin Spies" in taverns who question you and stuff and if you do good you gain relations with them. The military forces could be implemented by adding large groups of "Klyrintin Military Peacemakers" near the coastal regions of Perisno. Military and Government (no claimant): The Klyrintin Empire has a vast army, and their soldiers are disciplined They have a wide assortment of troops ranging from spearmen to heavy cavalry. A commonly used tactic by them is to use horse archers to bait the enemy and then trap them with infantry and heavy cavalry. They are a force to be reckoned with.

By the way, the Imperial names go so far for in Maccavia, most use Fantasy surnames as well, like: Falcus Frost, Dracchos Dignity, Benunuius Benevolence, specially new Gods worshippers. Because the Gods use Imperial Names:
Example;
Commodus, patron of Family and Duty.
We must create names accordly.
But not a critic, they look cool the way they are suggested.
Good job! you're doing a great work here, have you considering joining the team?

Anyway let's edit this post to make it contain something about Perisno lore as well :D
Minor Faction Volheere Raiders Lore: The Volheere raiders came from the continent of Nisaynia, which is near Perisno. They are a hard people, having to live through the harsh winter climates of their continent. Somehow, they survive through it yearly, but the past decade has been particularly rough to them. They believe that their god, Woden, has forsaken them and they are no longer worthy people. They decided that they are not "holy" enough to live on the land of Nisaynia, where their gods roam. The entire Volheere people sailed away, and happened to come to Perisno. They landed on the coasts [someone really needs to draw a Perisno map for reference once it is done :D ] and sacked everything they could find. Since then, they have established themselves as a minor power in Perisno. Their berserkers are a feared group, and the leader, Úlfhéðnar, is a formidable man. It will take a strong hero to defeat the Volheere raiders and wipe them off the face of the earth.

I suppose so, we'll have to take it to the Da bigga Boss Mich.
But you're as good as on the team already.
Let's refrain from writing too much randomics here, this is da librehry. Where we work our minds. Do you have any more lore? don't be afraid to write, all here is considered and given deserved attention by the co-dev.
Which in that case, happens 2 be me ;)
But don't think much... so much "Knowledge Creating Inducing" is... MADDENING ::) ???

Thanks Mich ;D
Now we have to come on terms about Faction Relationships:
What does Hakkon think of Drahara? What does Drahara Think of the Reich? Does the Reich fear the Hakkon Empire? Does the idea of Freedom for all in the Maccavian Republic affect the minds of the Subjects of other Kingdoms enslaved by their rulers and dictators? What was the reaction of the Tolranian Sovereign to know that King Comrey and his Hakkon minions settled in Perisno? Which religion is the strongest? does religion dictate the actions of the Factions? will the Reich Dragon faith Priests charge against the Maccavian Phalanx traditional Old Gods and New Gods? The Maccavian Republic is a very powerful Faction in terms of military and ideas, does other factions see them as a threat? What does Redwood think about these "Invading man" ? Which Factions are allied? Which faction hates each other? How will a United Maccavian Republic affect the world Perisno? Will them free them? or try to conquer them? Is the Reich des Drache prepared for a Perisno Conquest? Will Drahara drive out the Invading Hakkons in their lands? Will the Tolrania Sovereign help Draharan Clans force Hakkon Empire out of their lands? Legends tells about the return of the Evil Emperor that ruled Perisno long ago with the Black Blade (Dark Path Players)

It is a good thing we have this, because i just tried updating the lore of the TW forum, and it wont let me make a post with more the 40,000 characters. Anyway, i'll post a link to this Forum, if people want to dig deeper into the world of Perisno. I cannot ask for a board on the forum till we have at least 15 pages anyway...

There's only one thing we can do I suppose ... SPAM THE TOPIC TO 15 PAGES ... no, I'm just kidding. Dark, here's what I think about it:
What does Hakkon think of Drahara? I would imagine they are neutral, but wary of each other. Hakkon sees only savages in the Draharans, while the Draharans see uncivilized people in the Hakkonese. What does Drahara Think of the Reich? Drahara is wary of the Reich. Does the Reich fear the Hakkon Empire? The Reich fears no one, and thinks all beings who do not worship the Dragon Gods are inferior. Does the idea of Freedom for all in the Maccavian Republic affect the minds of the Subjects of other Kingdoms enslaved by their rulers and dictators? Not sure about this one What was the reaction of the Tolranian Sovereign to know that King Comrey and his Hakkon minions settled in Perisno? They were scared at first, then determined to fight back - and win. Which religion is the strongest? does religion dictate the actions of the Factions? will the Reich Dragon faith Priests charge against the Maccavian Phalanx traditional Old Gods and New Gods? I suppose each religion's followers thinks theirs is the strongest. Religion dictates the Reich's actions. The Maccavian Republic is a very powerful Faction in terms of military and ideas, does other factions see them as a threat? Every faction is seen as a threat to each other, so yes. What does Redwood think about these "Invading man" ? They prefer to let them squabble over each other and do not care much for them. Which Factions are allied? Tolrania and the Redwoods are mutual allies against Hakkon. Drahara and the Reich are allied to no one. Maccavia and Hakkon are trade partners. Which faction hates each other? How will a United Maccavian Republic affect the world Perisno? Will them free them? or try to conquer them? Everyone will be against each other probably Is the Reich des Drache prepared for a Perisno Conquest? Yes, they have the manpower to do it, but just not the initiative. Will Drahara drive out the Invading Hakkons in their lands? Most likely. Will the Tolrania Sovereign help Draharan Clans force Hakkon Empire out of their lands? We'll see how that turns out. Legends tells about the return of the Evil Emperor that ruled Perisno long ago with the Black Blade (Dark Path Players) Yes, the player can follow the Dark Path and try to conquer Perisno (hard though, as every faction will be at war with you and absolutely no peace
Wow, that felt like an interview ;)

Players will be able to bite in the Syndicate, trust me, the Dark Path is not a easy one, but players will have Aurum, they will be wealthy, and the benefits that accompany the Dark Path are many. Corrupted Cities are easy to siege, players can take over villages and make operations that can cripple the enemy, they can hire "Minions" which belongs to a very strong Troop Tree, they can steal technologies, they can corrupt Lords, they can buy almost everything.
If you think that's enough, they still have the Black Blade and the Evil Emperor's Mantle which OP items.

The evil path will need to make some sense (needs a storyline to it.) I suggested this a long time ago
Quote
Minor Faction: -The Buried These guys are basically undead. They were resurrected by an evil sorcerer soon after the founding of the Hakkon Empire, and ever since then they have been terrorizing Perisno. It would take a true hero to stop this new evil threat. Their stronghold hidden in a reclusive place, and is very hard to find. (Their lair would work like a bandit lair, and there is only one. After that is defeated, there will be no more Undead spawns. Their lair is heavily guarded, and constantly spawns Undead hordes. Standard army: 1 Necromancer (unique unit) 20 Undead Reapers (light and mobile infantry) 50 Undead Archers (archers) 50 Undead Blademasters (heavy infantry) 30 Undead Berserkers (heavy infantry) 20 Undead Cataphracts (heavy cavalry) 30 Undead Horsearchers (light cavalry) Every army looks something like this, although the unique army lead by the true Necromancer is much stronger.
1 Necromancer (the TRUE one, this is an NPC character) 30 Guardians of the Tomb (REALLY strong infantry) 50 Undead Berserkers 100 Undead Archers 100 Undead Blademasters 50 Undead Cataphracts 100 Horsearchers
They are special spawns who can be killed for special loot.
Could we expand on this for the player's dark storyline?

Double post, sorry, but update:
The Perisno Histories, Volume 1 Dark, Michadr, and others, feel free to edit as I go to correct lore and stuff. An idea I had is to write the lore of Perisno in mini "volumes" for those who want to read it :D This will be a WIP, and I will edit whenever I have time to work on it. I. Before the Enlightment and the Hakkonese Perisno has always been a beautiful land, ranging from terrains of deserts to snowy mountains. No other continent, perhaps, could match the bloodshed that is happening in Perisno. It is a continent that is bordered by many other larger continents that include Nisaynia, Old Hakkon, Klyrinish, and the Realm of the Lost. Incursions from the people of these continents have happened in Perisno many times, but never have they been really successful due to poor sailing technology and others. The Old Hakkon Empire was the first to discover Perisno and the potential it contained, at around 463 BE (Before the Enlightment). Hakkon was a successful empire at this time, and its sailors boasted they could sail the world and not one ship would sink. Whether this was true or not, however, was never tested as the Hakkon Golden Age was very short.
